Best of Breton

August 22, 2013

photo (10)I never thought I would own so many Breton tops. I vividly recall buying a doll in Britanny aged about 8. She was housed in a plastic cylinder wearing traditional Breton costume, admittedly it was more about a full skirt and an apron than a stripe, but I think the seed was sown.

I have breton’s from Gap, ones from service stations in France, ancient French Connection versions and many from Margaret Howell. I could spend several weeks wearing different colour mixes and I actually prefer the less obvious options as they are more interesting. Nonetheless, they are classic and easy to wear. In fact, a boat neck breton in a neat fit suits almost everyone.

I am wearing a summer cap sleeve in pale brown and black, worn with crepe track pants and the favoured Clarks sandals.

Top from Margaret Howell (www.margarethowell.co.uk) trousers from Joseph (www.joseph.co.uk) necklace by Day Birger et Mikkelson (www.day.dk)

Below are some of the back catalogue…..
